United Way Launches Volunteer Marion

By creating a venue that both allows individuals to see the many ways they can make a difference and agencies to promote their needs, the United Way of Marion County has increased the potential for volunteerism and involvement in the community.

On April 16th, nonprofits and charities in the area began posting their volunteer and other needs online in hopes of increasing the opportunities for community members to get involved. The online system, which is administrated by the local United Way, is called Volunteer Marion and is located at www.volunteermarion.org.

“We are thrilled to offer this new online portal to our community,” commented Brett White, Executive Director. “The system will streamline how our community gives back to the many agencies in our area.”

The online system will do more than just create matches among the service community and private citizens; it will also help to build lasting relationships.

“Volunteer Marion is open to all non-profit agencies, not just United Way Funded Partners,” added White. “We hope that it becomes a central hub for volunteerism in our community.”

The system already has over 20 agencies with needs posted. Users can visit volunteermarion.org to setup their account and respond to these needs today. They can also become a fan of their favorite agencies to be notified when they have new needs.

Responding to needs is easy and can change a life. Give it a try today at volunteermarion.org.
