United Way Wraps Up Largest Campaign Ever

The United Way of Marion and Taylor Counties wrapped up their most successful campaign ever on January 11, 2021. The 2020 campaign crossed over the half a million-dollar mark for the third year in a row, raising $520,485 to help support our local community.

Over 1,000 individual donors participated in the annual fundraising drive with over 106 leadership gifts of $500 or more.

The Rotary Club of South Fairmont presented a check for $75,000 to the campaign, representing the total raised from the 13th annual Celebration of Lights. It is the largest amount ever raised for the event and the largest single gift to the campaign.

In a year marked with challenges and changes in the workplace, several annual contributors adapted their campaigns for their employees. Mon Power raised over $73,588, making them the largest workplace campaign again this year.Fairmont State University raised over $22,000 and Civil & Environmental Associates raised $20,000. Christ Episcopal Church made an extremely generous gift of $33,000 to the campaign and UPS raised over $16,597.

With several fundraising activities having to be canceled due to the pandemic, individual and workplace giving proved even more important.

The closing of this campaign also marks the final event for Devanna Corley as 2021 campaign chair. “I’m so thankful to every person and company 4that stepped up to help us move our community forward,” commented Corley. “I was honored to lead this campaign and advocate on behalf of the agencies, programs, and individuals making positive change in our community every day!”

The funding from the annual campaign helps support 35 programs at 25 health and human service agencies in Marion and Taylor counties.
