The Fairmont State University College of Liberal Arts has announced its Summer Arts Series to provide opportunities for both students and the community to participate and experience the arts in several different forms.
“We look forward to continuing to provide our students and communities opportunities to engage in the arts through the launch of our Summer Arts Series,” said Leigh Anne Bolyard, Fairmont State University Director of Performing Arts Outreach and Development. “Each concert is going to feature different parts of the University’s beautiful campus, as well as showcase our incredible artists including Academy for the Arts instructors and students and Town and Gown Theatre community performers.”
Each performance will take place virtually throughout the month of June, with the final show in July to conclude the series. All proceeds from the performance series will benefit local non-profit organizations to support individuals and families in need throughout north central West Virginia.
The Fairmont State COLA Summer Arts Series will take place as follows:
- Thursday, June 3: Kettle Bottom Act 1 – benefiting the Tygart Valley United Way - $20 for Acts 1 & 2
- Thursday, June 10: Kettle Bottom Act 2 – benefitting the Tygart Valley United Way - $20 for Acts 1 & 2
- Thursday, June 17: Academy for the Arts Instructor Showcase – benefitting HOPE of Marion County - $10
- Thursday, June 24: Academy for the Arts Youth Theatre Company presents All That Jazz - A Night on Broadway – benefiting CASA of Marion county - $10
- Thursday, July 1: Town and Gown: Here We Go Again – benefiting the Tygart Valley United Way, CASA of Marion County and HOPE of Marion County - $10
Each show in the series will be livestreamed on the online event platform, Remo, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets will be available for purchase at http://tvuw.us/tickets beginning Thursday, May 13. Season tickets for admission to each performance may also be purchased for $40.
The College of Liberal Arts will continue to offer virtual programming throughout the year, in hopes of transitioning to larger scale in-person concerts and performances as COVID-19 guidelines and restrictions are lifted.
“We are looking forward to continuing to strengthen and expand our community partnerships and relationships by doing more of these types of benefit concerts and performances in the future,” Bolyard added.
